Wind through tree-lined dales and past towering limestone cliffs, exploring some of England's finest corners for wildlife and natural scenery, with a very good reason to reach the finish line. Runners will return to event HQ to find samples of 10 local cheeses and a handpicked goodie bag straight from the legendary Hartington Cheese Shop.

Choose your adventure: the 8.4km route for a spirited taste of the Peak District, or the full 16.4km for those hungry for more. Both courses weave together technical trail and open countryside, welcoming everyone from seasoned runners to first-timers. And while you run, friends and family can explore the charming local villages and stunning walking routes right on your doorstep.

It's an autumn day out worth every step.

Your race entry fee does a lot of good to protect the green and wild trails and communities that host our events:

1. we give generously to local nature and trail repair projects

2. we choose local suppliers for your post-race food and drink

For TRA races, to count as an affiliated entrant, you only need to be a member of an affiliated UK Athletics club, you do not need to be registered with England Athletics

To enter this event you must be aged 18 or over on the 31s of October 2026. This is to comply with the UK Athletics rules for competition.

On the morning of the race, head to our HQ in Hartington Village Hall to collect your race bib and timing equipment. Be sure to have all of your running gear with you for a mandatory kit check. The start line is roughly a 5-minute walk from registration, so please plan to arrive at the HQ to register a minimum of 20 minutes before the wave start time you select when completing your online registration. Final race instructions will be issued 4 weeks prior to race day.

LONG COURSE

Runners will be required to carry the below mandatory kit. Failure to present any of the items during kit check in registration or to marshals on course will result in instant disqualification from the event without refund. This is for your safety along with that of our event staff and other runners.

Waterproof jacket - with taped seams and integrated attached hood
Waterproof trousers - with taped seams
Suitable off-road running shoes - fell/trail shoes
Hat/buff and gloves (head and hand cover)
Spare dry long-sleeve layer
Sufficient nutrition for the race plus an emergency 500 calories

Foil blanket/emergency shelter
Fully charged mobile telephone in a waterproof case (or waterproof phone)
Drinking water (minimum 500ml filled at start)
Reusable race cup or bottle
Whistle
A GPS device with the route downloaded (i.e. watch, phone or similar), or a map & compass with the route marked.

SHORT COURSE

Runners will be required to wear suitable off-road running shoes and are strongly advised to wear and/or carry kit appropriate for the expected and potential weather conditions.

Please be aware that the definitive kit requirement list will be sent in the Race Instructions document, shared around 30 days pre-event.

8:30am - Registration and Bag Drop open.

9:00am - The first wave of long course runners start.

Every 10 minutes - The next wave of long course runners start.

10:00am - The first wave of short course runners start.

10:15am - Registration is closed.

10:30am - The start line is closed.

12:00pm - The finish line is closed.

13:00pm - All bags must have been collected from Bag Drop.

We encourage everyone to stick around for a brew in race HQ, to socialise, and to enjoy all of the local cheese samples on offer. Then, when you are ready, head down to the Hartington Cheese Shop to collect your race goodie bag of cheese, crackers and port.
